Friday night at State Farm Arena the Atlanta Hawks hosted the Boston Celtics for game three of the first-round of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs
No team has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit in the NBA playoffs, but the Hawks rewrote the storyline becoming the first team to do just that with a 130-122 win.
Trae Young played 36 minutes, put 32 points on the board, had six rebounds and nine assists. With his third assist of the game, Trae Young tied Richie Guerin (199) for the eighth-most assists in franchise playoff history. With his fourth assist of the night, Young passed Richie Guerin (199) for the eighth-most assists in franchise playoff history. Young tallied his 200th career playoff assist and became the youngest player in franchise history to record at least 500 playoff points and 200 playoff assists.
The Hawks poured in 74 points in tonight’s first half, tied for the most points in a single half in franchise postseason history.
Clint Capela played 24 minutes Friday night, putting ten points on the board and had eleven rebounds. Capela with his first rebound of the game had his 700th career playoff board and is one of only nine active players to have over 700 points, 700 rebounds and 100 blocks in the playoffs.
Dating back to the 1988 NBA Playoffs, the Hawks are 11-2 against the Celtics in postseason games in Atlanta, including winning five straight home playoff contests against Boston.
The Hawks and Celtics will meet again Sunday night for game four with tip off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
