On Saturday at TD Garden in Boston No. 7 Atlanta will face off against No. 2 Boston in the opening round of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs.
This is the Hawks third straight trip to the playoffs, and got here after taking down Miami 116-105 in the first game of the 2023 NBA Play-In Tournament. In the Play-In Tournament victory, the Hawks outrebounded Miami by 24 boards, and the Hawks also outscored the Heat in points in the paint (64-46), second chance points (26-6) and fast break points (17-12)
Hawks Head Coach Quin Snyder is making his seventh straight appearance in the NBA Playoffs, the longest playoff appearance streak by an active head coach.
The Hawks and Celtics will meet in NBA Playoffs for the 13th time and the ninth time since the club’s move to Atlanta. Boston has won 10 of the 12 series played, owning a 42-29 postseason record. Saturday will be the sixth meeting between Atlanta and Boston in the postseason since the NBA Playoffs expanded to 16 teams in 1984, and the fourth straight first round meeting.
Atlanta and Boston have met three times during the 2022-23 regular season, with Boston taking all three contests 126-101 (11/16), 134-125 (3/11), and 120-114 (4/9).
