Atlanta Hawks Own A 125-106 Win Against The Spurs

Saturday night at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, the Hawks hosted the Spurs to continue their two-game homestand. Saturday night’s contest between these two clubs is the first time this season that they have met. Atlanta owned tonight’s game with a 125-106 win. They now have scored 100-or-more points in 32 straight games. 

Tonight’s match with San Antonio marks the Hawks’ ninth straight game facing a Western Conference opponent, and with their win tonight, the Hawks, against the West this season, are 12-11 overall and 6-4 at home.

The Hawks held the Spurs to shooting .297% from deep tonight, marking Atlanta’s 20th game of the season holding its opponent to less than .300 3FG%. The Hawks are one of only two teams in the NBA to have 20 such games and hold an 18-2 record when doing so.

Trae Young tonight played 32 minutes, had 24 points on the board, four rebounds and seventeen assists. Young has dished out at least 12 assists in each of his last three games, with his sixteenth dime tonight, Young tied a season high for assists in a game. It’s the second time in three games he has handed out 16 helpers, and with his seventeenth dime tonight, Young reached a season-high and is just one assist shy of his career-high of 18 assists.

De’Andre Hunter also had a 24 point night in the 32 minutes he played. Hunter had five rebounds and one assist. Hunter finished tonight’s first quarter with 12 points, marking the seventh quarter this season he’s netted 12+ points, as well as the second time doing so in a first quarter. He registered 17 points, two rebounds and two steals in tonight’s first half, marking the first time in his career he’s finished an opening half with at least 15 points and 2 steals. Tonight was the second game this season Hunter had at least 20 points and 3 thefts, it was the third such game of his career.

Atlanta will be back on the court Monday night in the final of four regular season games this season against the Charlotte Hornets. Tip-off at the Spectrum Center is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
