Around The G-League 1/25

There was high action around the G-League with the Maine Celtics, Long Island Nets, and College Park Skyhawks in action on January 25th.

Maine Celtics 119 – Fort Wayne Mad Ants 133

The Celtics traveled to Fort Wayne to play the Mad Ants in what was a close game in the beginning, with the score being 27-25 with the Celtics holding a 2 point lead. Quickly turned into a bit of a runaway as the Mad Ants were up 61-46 with a 15-point lead at the half. The Celtics would never get within 10 points, with 12 points being the closest they would ever get. For the Mad Ants, Gabe York led all scorers with 36 points. The Mad Ants had great performances from Justin Anderson 32 points and Jermaine Samuels Jr. with 23 points. For the Maine Celtics, Marial Shayok led the team with 30 points with contributions from Kamar Baldwin with 28 points and Eric Demers 20 points. The Celtics continue action on Saturday.

Iowa Wolves 112 – Long Island Nets 131

The Wolves faced off against the Nets in Long Island. The game was tied at 32 after 1 quarter. The second quarter had the same feel to it, with Long Island only leading by 2 points with the score being 60-58. The Nets took a huge lead in the 3rd quarter, with the score being tied at 60 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd before the Nets went on a 20-7 run, gaining a 13 point lead. The Nets would go on to win the game by 19 points. With Jordan Bowden scoring a game high 31 points. RaiQuan Gray and Kavion Pippen  also had great scoring nights with them both having 20 points each. For the Wolves, D.J. Carton had 19 points, and Javonte Cook 17 points. Matt Lewis had 16 points, and former first round pick Emmauel Mudiay also had 16 points.

College Park Skyhawks 115 – Cleveland Charge 116

The Skyhawks played the Charge for the second time in 2 days. Cleveland had their 8 game win streak snapped in the previous matchup. The next day rematch started with College Park coming out hot, scoring 11 straight points out the gate. Cleveland would claw back only, being down 5 with the score being 31-26 Skyhawks lead. The Charge would regain the lead with 6 minutes left in the half and would be up by 10 after outscoring College Park 43-28 in the second quarter. The Skyhawks would fight back bringin the lead within 5 at the end of the third quarter and tying up the score with 9 minutes left in the 4th. The Skyhawks at one point would lead by 6 points. With just over a minute left, it was a tie game at 111 until Dononvan Williams hit a jumper to give the Skyhawks a 2 point lead. Brandon Williams then hit another jumper to bring the lead to 4. Sam Merill hit 2 free throws for the charge to bring it back to 2. With 4 seconds left, Nate Hinton hit a game, winning 3 for the charge, putting them back in the win column and winning by 1 point. Isaiah Mobley led the charge with 25 points, and Nate Hinton had 23 on the night. For the Skyhawks, Brandon Williams had 24 points. Armoni Brooks also had 23 points.
