University of Alabama Basketball Player Charged With Capital Murder

Early Sunday morning on the University of Alabama campus there was a shooting that killed a 23 year old woman. 

Two men were charged with capital murder. They have been identified as Micheal Lynn Davis, a 20 year old student from Charles County Maryland, and Alabama basketball player Darius Miles, a 21 year old male who was a junior reserve forward from Washington D.C. 

The two men were booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail around 6:45 pm ET. 

Tuscaloosa Police Captain Jack Kennedy said the victim was Jamea Harris, a 23 year old woman from the Birmingham area. 

Captain Kennedy also said “At this time, it appears that the only motive was a minor altercation that these individuals had with the victim as they were out on “The Strip” near campus.

Alabama has the 4th ranked team in the country and versus LSU on Saturday, ruled Miles out with a season ending ankle injury. His bio has been removed from the athletic department website, and the university’s statement said he “has been removed from campus” Miles has also been removed from the team. Miles played in 6 games this season; his last appearance was on December 20th, when he scored two points against Jackson State.
