Trae Young Leads Atlanta Hawks To 125-126 Win Against Orlando

After losing two of their last three on the road, the Atlanta Hawks returned home to State Farm Arena in Atlanta Monday night to host Orlando Magic, and the Hawks picked up their second straight win, 125-126. 

Trae Young carried this team to tonight’s win with 37 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists. Young dished out seven assists in tonight’s first quarter, tying a season-best for assists in a single quarter (3x). It’s the 12th quarter of his career handing out at least seven assists. Tonight also was Trae Young’s 144th career game with 10+ assists, breaking a tie with Jason Kidd (143) for the ninth-most such games in NBA history by any player 25-years-or-younger. He currently sits fifth for any player 24-years-or-younger. He also tallied his 56th career outing of at least 30 points and 10 assists. His 56 such games are two away from tying Magic Johnson (58) for the seventh-most 30-point/10-assist games in NBA history.

Aj Griffin, Monday night put 19 points on the board for Atlanta. He had 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Griffin has connected on at least one three-pointer in 16 straight games since November. He’s tied De’Andre Hunter for the second-longest such streak by a Hawks rookie. Griffin finished tonight’s first half with 10 points and five rebounds, marking his first career half with at least 10 points and five boards.

John Collin had 12 points Monday night while Okongwu had 11, Hunter 16, Bogdanovic 10, Murray 17, and Holiday had just 4 points. 

De’Andre Hunter poured in 12 points in tonight’s opening quarter, marking his seventh 10+ point quarter of the season. Hunter connected on his 250th career three-pointer with his first make from deep tonight.

The Atlanta Hawks will be back at State Farm Arena on Wednesday night for a matchup with the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 p.m.
